Why hello there wonderful people! Sorry sorry sorry about my attendance record hope I can make it up to you during the up coming break! Anyways I wanted to talk about Pslam 136. If you haven't read it, after every line it reads "His love endures forever" it repeats that phrase 26 times! As I was reading it I caught a glimpse of the vastness of his love. So many times do we underestimate God's love. I always forget how eternal and powerful it is! The time I have to remind myself the most is when something bad happens and I am questioning God and his reasoning behind it, but just as the Pslam says that in every aspect of life God's love endures forever. I often pray for God to send a nice Christian guy into my life, but God has been convicting me of that lately because I am rejecting his love and searching for it in a guy. Not to say that having a boyfriend or girlfriend is wrong, but remember to embrace the beauty of God's love before going and searching for more love because God's love never fails and it is forever.

Hey guys! My goodness it has been long, yet it feels like I say that everytime! Anywho, today I was praying and I was really praying about different temptations I have been struggling with and then I stumbled upon this verse; it's Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." . Temptations are something that everyone struggles with, from gossiping, to a really tempting cupcake, or tempting drink...etc , but how do can we prepare ourselves for these temptations? Well in the first part it talks about watching and praying. I think the best thing is to be aware and admit that you are struggling with the temptations to yourself and then to God. Sometimes it is weird to tell God about your bad habits or not so great temptations in fear of condemnation, but that's the beautiful thing about a relationship with God is that he doesn't look down on us for sin because through Jesus Christ he can look at us will love and compassion. Also a great thing about to talking to God is it will take away such a heavy burden you've been carrying because of sin and honestly sometimes it just feels great to get stuff off your chest. For example today when I was talking to God I could gossip to him and tell him everything and I knew he would understand and be there to listen. That's another awesome thing about prayer is that you can talk anywhere, at anytime, about anything! So ya before I go on a huge tangent about who knows what I want to end this with saying how the more honest you are and the more you admit to God the closer you to will become. If you are mad at God tell him, is you are really struggling with a sin tell him, it is nothing he doesn't already know but by confessing it helps you to grow together in a healthy path.
Love you guys and thanks for reading!

Have I already told you guys that my senior year has been over the top busy? None the less, I apologize for my lame excuse and not posting in what seems like forever! Ok so this isn't going to be super long or detailed because it's late and I have 2 tests and a project tomorrow, but I want to encourage everyone to be overly nice to people this week, I have been studying the Beautitudes and one of them is loving your enemies and not judging. I feel like judging people is a MAJOR part of our culture today. It is so hard not to judge people whether it is because of appearance or morals or grades. I hope that I can learn to start looking through God's eyes to see everyone the same as he sees them. Also remember to be really nice, it is actually really fulfilling to be kind and sweet to people. I am extremely guilty of using excessive sarcasm but I am really trying to cut back and be positive towards everyone. People will notice and wonder why you are different and this will be a great witness opportunity without having to go way out on a limb or anything. Well hopefully I can upload a more in depth devotion in the next couple days! Sorry for how flaky I have been lately! Thanks for reading and Hope you all have a awesome week!

Hello wonderful people! So I wanted to talk to everyone about finding your worth in who created you! It is important to remind ourselves that we are God's masterpiece, created in his imagine to glorify him! A lot of times, at least in my case,  I down play the importance of God's opinion. I think, "Well that's nice and all, but I won't be truly happy with myself until I look like so in so." Or another common thought is, "Why in the world did God make me like this, why did he give me these struggles, why isn't he answering my prayers, why isn't he helping me etc.".Then I found this SUPER cool verse, ok well I think it is super cool haha, it is Isaiah 29:16, "You turn things upside own, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, 'You did not make me'? Can the pot say to the potter, 'You know nothing"'? I mean wow, that hits close to home am I right?! I mean it is really humbling to read, to realize how ironic it is when we are demanding that God made a mistake. So I hope when reading this you guys realize where you are, what you are struggling with is making you unique to the purpose God has in store with your life. Also I don't want you to read that a lose hope that God's purpose is going to make your life miserable. Even though God's plan might not match up with your dreams and plans, that doesn't mean that you won't enjoy the life God has in store. God loves us, as I mentioned in the last devotional, we are God's children, he only wants what is best for us. So don't fret or be nervous (is that what fret means, my vocab isn't the best) that your life will be miserable because God's plan doesn't match up with your plans. It just means that God has something better in store. And in order to have peace in God's plan, we have to put all of our trust in God, it is like sacrificing our life to God and trusting he knows what is best. Once we do that life will be so fulfilling because we don't have to stress if what we are doing is wrong we just give God the wheel and trust that he knows where he is going.
Thanks for reading!
Till Next Time!

Hey guys! I can't believe it has almost been a month since I have posted! Sorry!! Lifes been crazy and with school coming up and trying to squeeze in every last adventure possible! Anyways back to what we are here for...."Be still and know that I am with you." Pslam 46:10, there is nothing more encouraging than to think about the God of the universe by your side at every waking moment. Every time you are scared, tempted, worried, excited, and sad God is there. He is uplifting, comforting, and helping us along our journey. It almost gives me goose bumps when I think about it. I believe it is important for us to occasionally stand still, take a breath and remember that you are in the presence of the almighty God. The maker of the heavens and earth beside you through it all. This just takes a physical weight off my shoulders. With all of us starting school whether it be highschool, middle school, or college, with the school year comes stressful days and trials, but in the middle of the chaos don't forget to stop, breath and remember Gods plan, remember God made you and put you here for a purpose. Remember that nothing you can and ever will do will tear him from you. Take that as encouragement and motivation to keep going, instead of thinking bad of your sin and downfalls. God is there to help you up and keep you going.

Then you shall call and the Lord will answer; you shall cry and he will say, here I am.  Isaiah 58:9 If anyone out there is feeling down or sad I just want to remind you that God is there helping. When you cry out he is there he will never leave you nor forsake you. So remember to cry out ask him and pray because he cares for you. He loves you so dearly and has a plan and a purpose for your life. Keep perceiving through these struggles, but make sure to hold onto God in the process. When you do that the wait and pain is replaced with his peace and then there is nothing you can't do!

Hello wonderful people! So I have reading in my bible lately and I haven't been reading the same thing it is always a different verse or different part or something. Anyways back to my point, I keep seeing verses where God says word for word that he WILL help us. For example, Isaiah 41:13 "For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." This is one of my new favorite verses, I mean how cool is it that God says he will help you! The God that conquered the grave and leads armies of angels whats to help YOU with whatever you are struggling with. If God is on our side, what can stop us? More than just on our side, he is along side of us help and teaching us. As Philipians 4:13 says, "I can do everything through him who gives me strength.". Lastly I will leave you with this verse, Pslam 121:2, "My help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth.". The God who MADE the earth and heavens, who created you and me desires to help us with every struggle and pain and even more than help he wants to get you through it! Ok I lied this is the last verse, in Philipians 4:19 says, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." and honestly I am not worried about the riches of God's glory ever running out! Hope this brought some encouragement to you guys! Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read! Morgan Hykin

Hello wonderful people!  So this has been on my brain for a little while so I thought I would share. I believe for a lot of Christians, at least I know from personal experience, prayer can be a tricky balance between talking to a wish granting genie, bestie, and an all powerful ruler. I know I catch myself sometimes praying and after I finish a prayer, thinking about my words; and often they are all about me and my requests. It is hard to not get caught up it our "requests" we have for God. I remember in Sunday school they taught us to pray with an catchy acronym, which I can't remember (so maybe it wasn't so catchy). Although I do remember the point they were teaching. They said when we pray to 1. Praise God and all he is 2. Thank God for all he has blessed us with 3. others needs and struggles and lastly 4. ourselves in that order. When I started to pray like this it was so cool I would get lost in prayer it was awesome! I challenge you guys to start praying like this for a week or two and see if you notice a difference! Feel free to leave comments or email letting me know! Thanks for stopping by! Morgan.

Hey guys! This isn't a devotion (don't worry one will be put up later this afternoon). I just wanted to address that some of the picture from my earlier posts have not been loading. There is some sort of error with the image. It might have something to do with the fact that I get all of my pictures from pinterest, so copyright stuff might be the problem. I honestly don't know what the problem is so I apologize. If you want to view the pictures they are all on my pinterest page under "Food for thought". Feel free to check it out! The link the listed below. Thanks guys! And as always thanks for stopping by!

Hey Guys! So I saw this verse and thought I would talk about being anxious. God explains in Philippians 4:67 that we must not be anxious about anything. When reading this verse it reminded me about the analogy about waiting in the hall way. I don't know if you know what that means, but the hallway is when you are in between doors which represents big steps in your life. Lots of times we feel like we are going no where and doing nothing significant. Almost like God isn't listening or he is taking a "break" from us and helping someone else; therefore we are stuck in the hallway waiting for direction. In the verse we see that God is telling us what to do in the hallway. He tells us to continually pray about everything on your mind no matter how big and/or small they may be. He also tells us to be thankful. Sometimes it is difficult to be thankful in the hallway because you don't see much happening in your life, but when you read through the verse he says that with thanksgiving you gain the peace of God which is greater than any earthly possession. So what we can take from this verse is to pray always and never forget to thank God for everything, even the troubles your facing (which seems kinda strange). Then you will gain the peace of God which guards your heart and mind which is more precious than anything this world can offer.
Thanks for stopping by! Oh and if you guys what any kind of devotions on certain verses or topics let me know in the comments! Again thanks for taking time to reading! ~Morgan

Hey guys! Today I thought I would talk about our sacrifice because of God's sacrifice. God  gives us freedom through Jesus as long as we commit to him. Technically we are completely free and no matter how many times we sin or screw up God still loves us and we are still considered his child, but because of God's beautiful sacrifice we should want to sacrifice what we want in this world to be the light and how people the love of Christ. For example if someone gave you the best, most expensive, better than any dream gift our natural instinct is to want and return the favor to this person, by helping them or also giving a gift. It is the same with Jesus. It is hard sometimes to grasp all the amazing things he has done for us and to truly see how much he has blessed us, especially through hard times; but if we can grasp just a little of his amazing grace then our hearts will be filled with a sense of gratitude. We then will truly desire to do whatever we can to repay him for all he has done, but it is really impossible to repay God with all he has done for us. So all we can do is lay down our humanly desires in exchange of God's desires. Roman 12:1 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-- this is spiritual act of worship."

Sometimes it is really scary to put all of our trust in God and his plan for our life. I know that I struggle with giving God all of my trust to do what he sees fit for the situation at hand. It is nerve racking because giving God full control means that God might not do what we prefer. For example if losing weight is something you really struggle with and you give God full control trusting him with the outcome means there is a chance that you won't lose weight hey you could even gain weight if he sees fit. Now I don't mean to scare you, I just want to explain now that there is no reason to not trust God because he can see the future, I mean he is the one that designed the future and your life. God is good and perfect and marvelous he will not hurt you or harm you without reason. Just like he says in Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart". Also God loves you and me more than anyone will ever know. Now if you love someone, I mean truly love someone with all of your heart, would you hurt them our cause pain to them? Of course not! You want whats best for them, you want to give them everything their heart desires and that is the same with God. He loves us more than anyone loves anything or anyone. He is crazy about us. He wants what is truly best for our life and all we have to do is trust him and his judgement to do what he pleases. Honestly there is no one else I rather give my life to; now completely trusting someone takes time. It is a process, giving your life to God will take time, but when you show him that you are trusting him he will give you his peace which is amazing and makes life worth while. Thanks for reading hope that helps someone out there! Thanks for reading. God bless!

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is just trust and believe that God is going to fulfill every promised he has made to us. It seems that trusting him would be easy, but trusting and believing in a God we have never laid our eyes on requires a lot of faith; but once we finally do trust in his power and believe what he has promised we can then be filled with his peace which is the best feeling in the world. "Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you." Job 22:21

Hey guys! Today I thought I would remind us of the importance of living for and like Christ. Not till recently did I realize the true meaning of living for Christ. Since God is in heaven and cannot be here in physical form we must literally be him, and live as him so that people and see him through us. For example, if you couldn't go some where because you or sick or something and had to send someone in your place. Wouldn't you want that person to be a good representation of you and your values? It is the same for God, we are the people that represent God to everyone around us so we have to make sure to live life as Christ would to uplift his will and not our own. That's what it means in the bible when it says to be "living sacrifices" because we have to sacrifice our earthly desires everyday to then turn to God and live like he would in this world. "Present yourself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God which is your spiritual worship"  Romans 12:1

Hey guys! I think every once in a while our focus needs to be reset onto God and our true purpose, which is living for Christ. We are like air filters constantly being attacked with sin and corruption from this world and lots of time we just need to be cleaned out. We need to be reminded that this is not our home and we are not here for earthly pleasures. We are here to glorify the King of Kings and show the world his grace, mercy and unfailing love. Hey people! (I know 2 posts in one day astonishing) anyways I just wanted to share this motivational thought I had. So I was worrying about school, relationships, the future... like usual, then I stepped back and realized that I waste so much time being afraid that I am screwing up my life, because of a bad grade, or because I said something wrong. God made me the way I am for a perfect reason, and if I didn't have these struggles I wouldn't be able to achieve the purpose God has sent me to do. For example if I got all A's (which I assure you I don't) made I wouldn't go to the college that God wants me to and then I wouldn't meet certain people etc. I read this devotional book called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young and it is constantly explaining that we should thank God for our struggles because without them 1. we wouldn't be so dependent on God (good thing) 2. it teaches us to trust God 3. we wouldn't be fully equip for the plans God has for us. Luke 12:25,26 says " Who of you worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" and Proverbs 19:21 says " Many are the plans in a man;s heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." Hope this helps to motivate you guys to trust God's plan! I know once I really began to trust God I truly had peace and life didn't seem so overwhelming! Well night!

Hey Guys! Well yet again it has been awhile. So I am constantly on pinterest and I saw this quote on there when I was feeling down and helpless, and when I read it my spirits were immediately uplifted! I have always conscientiously known that Jesus lived inside me (metaphorically), but how cool is it to think that the power that conquered death is inside us! Wow is that motivational or what! I just want to go climb a huge mountain or something super crazy. I mean this puts a whole new perspective on nothing is impossible. So whenever you feel broken down by the world and think that you are not "qualified" for the road ahead remember that the power that lives inside of you conquered death and remember that "I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength" Philippians 4:13. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Easter Ya'll! Today is the day we celebrate Jesus' resurrection! Praise to God, he has risen and washed us of our sins! "The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay," Matthew 28:5,6 Jesus conquered the grave! He took our rightful place so that we could be with him for eternity so how can we not praise him for the rest of our life. God is good All the time and all the time God is good.

Ok usually the images I post are verses, but this quote really hit me. "If the whole world was blind. How many people would you impress?" I am super guilty of this, looks looks looks, we get up everyday and find ourselves tweaking our style our looks to please the eyes of others. We use our clothes and stature to define us rather than our words. 1 Peter 3:4 says, "Your beauty should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit which is of great worth in God's sight" so today (or tomorrow if you're reading this tonight) live your life if people could only "see" you by your words rather than appearance and use your words to reflect Christ.

This last weekend I went to a Dnow at a local church and the first night the preacher spoke from Jonah. Now I grew up on church and the story of Jonah is the story everyone knows, but this preacher opened my eyes to a whole new meaning of Jonah's story. I remember when hearing the story of Jonah thinking " man I would never do that" , but I realized that I do exactly what Jonah did every single day. I think that my plan is better than God's, I think that God doesn't know best all the time. Instead of doing what the bible says I follow the world because it's convenient. Jonah disobeyed God because his mission seemed impossible; and I do that everyday, I don't honor my parents or I lie or say something mean. The story of Jonah shows us how if we follow God's plan we could skip the heart ache and be could live the amazing life God had planned for us. God has the perfect plan for us and if we follow him we can live a fulfilling and joyful life.

Hey guys! Well it's been a month at least since I have posted, January has been been full of ups and downs. My main focus this month has been trust. Trusting God in every moment of everyday. Trusting him with things go perfect or go terribly wrong; knowing that I don't have to worry about what I do or anything because I know whatever happens God has a reason. When people come or people leave God has a plan, it has really lifted a weight from my shoulders now that I don't have to worry about my future and college and relationships. Knowing that God is in control is the best feeling ever. Pslam 20:24 says, "A persons's steps are directed by The Lord How can anyone understand their own way?" God knows you and the best for you, he has already planned your steps so trust in him and he will give you peace. Something that helps me when I get worried or stressed I whisper in my mind or out loud "I trust you God" and the more I say it life becomes more and more  peaceful.
